Assessments
& Planning

CORE SERVICES
  • Assessment of the political, policy, and campaign environments in the state and venue related to your issue. This also includes factors such as aligned and opposing stakeholders and influencers, and likelihood and potential timeline for achieving your goals.

  • Analysis of stakeholders (aligned, opposing, and neutral), mapping relationships, influence, behavioral, communication, and values mapping, among others.

  • We’ll chart out your campaign to visually show strengths, weaknesses, and capacities of your campaign and stakeholders along with opposition or challenges in order to see a full picture of campaign viability and make the most strategic investments and decisions.

  • Assess readiness of your organization, stakeholders, coalition, to engage and what is needed to be ready.

  • Assess gaps and develop a plan of action to fill gaps and build capacity where needed.

  • Accelerate assessments and planning our immersion sessions, bringing in your team and/or aligned stakeholders to the table in half or full day sessions; occasionally two or three day retreat-style sessions for larger, more complex planning. Our team then turns around your assessment or plan of action within five business days.

  • Time is money in business, but in politics timing is everything. Our immersion offerings are designed to accelerate your strategy and planning into action in a fraction of the time. We only offer these sessions to organizations willing to integrate key leadership from the outset in order to act swiftly and decisively and ensure all organizational activities contribute positively to your objectives. Issue Campaign Design & Management

The Advocacy Shop partners with organizations and serves as campaign designers and managers bringing the expertise of campaign design, management, stakeholder engagement, coalition management, and vendor management to your campaigns, allowing your internal teams to stay focused while providing expert campaign managers to meet your exact needs and timelines.

  • Design your campaign based on organizational and/or coalition capacities, budgets, and more by identifying campaign strategies, target audiences, messaging, timelines, and visualizing the campaign ecosystem.

  • End-to-end campaign management including daily operations of the campaign, ensuring alignment with overall strategy, regular communication with your team, adjusting tactics, managing consultants and vendors, stakeholders and coalitions.

  • Evaluate progress and effectiveness, pivoting and refining as needed, assessing investments current and future, and updating campaign power map as the campaign and capacities evolve.


Coalition and Stakeholder Design & Management

Coalition, stakeholder, and influencer outreach and coordination is an intensive campaign element that can quickly devolve without focused attention. Our team can help you with any portion of this element or provide end-to-end design, building, and management.

  • Individualized advisory for advocacy business owners on running and scaling your business to working one-on-one with advocacy professionals who want to level-up their skills, are looking for mentorship and professional development that isn't always available especially in companies and associations with small gov/public affairs teams in-house.

  • Advise in-house or independent teams as you build out complex campaigns with a focus on building the capacity of the teams. This can help eliminate the need for bringing on specialized consultants while benefiting the long-term professional development of the team.

  • When your organization is running a campaign and serving as the coalition and/or campaign manager but this is a newer role for you. Our team can serve as a campaign advisor, serving as a thought partner and helping you break through challenges and shifts in the campaign as well as coalition and stakeholder dynamics like conflict, alignment, and more.

  • When individuals or teams have capacity gaps they want to fill that are in-line with our services, we help coach and train on those topics to leave you better, stronger, and capable for the long-term.


Advisory

When you have team members and staff in place but need to plus up during intensive campaigns or provide support for small teams, The Advocacy Shop can serve as advisors providing training, support, advice, mentorship, professional development, with the ultimate goal of building capacity and helping support your team when you don’t need or have the budget for our full consulting engagement. These engagements typically offer monthly meetings with real-time access to your personal advisor throughout the week, review and recommendations of plans, documents, and more.

  • Identify potential allies and stakeholders who could benefit from being part of a public or undisclosed coalition and how the coalition should operate for maximum effectiveness.

  • We handle outreach efforts, engaging potential coalition members and stakeholders, building the structure and organization of the network.

  • Manage the ongoing communication, coordination, and activation efforts of your coalition to stay aligned, share resources, and utilize the strengths of each member strategically to benefit the shared goal.

  • Facilitate strategic alignment and planning among coalition members or stakeholders and coordinate strengths, weaknesses, and capacities to develop shared campaign plans.

  • Identify and map out coalition members, stakeholders, influencers to understand strengths and gaps, level of influence and more from the beginning and how to fill those gaps and build capacity before and during a campaign.
